2023 SHEA Bracelet Project made and engraved by Ray Cover. The inspiration for this project was the project itself. I primarily work as a gun and knife engraver and this project gave me the opportunity to work with skills and engraving techniques that I don’t always get to use in my normal day to day work. The bracelet itself is hand made from sterling silver stock. All the cutting, surface finishing, forming, and engraving were all done by hand. The engraving is my version of an advanced bright cutting style commonly referred to as “Flare Cutting.” The design concept was to create something that was very classic and in good taste that would have timeless appeal. I wanted to design and create something that could be worn with any wardrobe on any occasion and not look out of place. The price is $700.

I was thrilled for the opportunity to work in sterling silver for the 2023 SHEA Bracelet Collection. Silver, not just a precious metal, but often referred to as the metal of emotions, healing, and love, would be perfect to make a piece inspired by silver Punjabi Kada / Kara bracelets, and the Ashtanga Yoga practice. The exterior is adorned with a traditional western style bright cut, a style developed by cowboys and vaqueros in the American west, framing a Hindu symbol OM/aum. Combining the eastern symbolism and western style engraving worlds together, I was in hopes it would ironically make this piece look like it was done by the artist formerly known as The Sacred-Cow-Boy, but the jury is still out on that decision. In the meantime, you be the judge! It was a conversation I had with @jodi_blumstein, a triple OG veteran Ashtanga teacher, that led me to choose the Gayatri Mantra, a Vedic prayer that was hand engraved on the interior in Sanskrit. The writing was meticulously embellished with a bright cut to make it sparkle and shine as bright as your inner light while you experience the Ayurvedic health benefits of wearing silver.

The title of my piece is “Foliage Prism.” It’s another experimental design involving a concept of flowing scroll that is slowly emerging through a broken prismatic membrane from the centre of the piece to the ends. I wanted to create movement with an organic flowing structure intertwined with chaos via seemingly random geometric structures. The bracelet is sterling silver weighing 38.3grams. The width is 14.8mm and an internal diameter at the widest point of 63.5mm. Price is $1100 USD. Includes shipping within the USA. Shipping is extra for international sales. Any sales within Australia will include additional 10% GST. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch about international shipping prices.

Sterling Silver Bracelet

“Through Their Grace”

In his first foray into the world of engraving Silver Bracelets, Artist and Engraver Jesse Harrington wanted to create a piece that would pay homage to the strength and resilience of the many incredible and powerful women he had known and continues to be blessed to know. In this bracelet we see a woman embraced in hand carved Filigree as she raises a spiked orb to the sky signifying both the power to overcome struggle and her power to rise above chaos, pain and personal demons, to consistently raise those around her up as well.

Jesse Harrington is a second generation woodworker, a classically trained sculptor and draftsman. His artistic journey began while playing in the sawdust of his father’s wood shop. It progressed through the halls of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (America's oldest art institution) and has taken him on voyages both globally and artistically. Jesse came across the Art of Modern Engraving two years ago, and there began an incredible journey. He has since fully dedicated himself and his business to the pains and delights of learning this incredibly complex art form. This new adventure has required him to delve into every aspect of his artistic knowledge. It is his desire to bring all of his artist expertise and abilities to bear in this new, well…let’s just call it what it is, obsession!

Sterling Silver Bracelet

The idea for this bracelet was to center a sterling bucking horse in a tapered bracelet as wild as the wearer. Bordered by square wire rope hand twisted and sterling stars with 2 mm black diamonds set in the centers. A nontraditional approach to the modified bright cut keeps your eyes moving throughout the piece.

"One With Everything"

This bracelet is a celebration of hand engraving. It represents the culmination of the many styles I have learned. My goal for this piece was to blend those styles and give as much variety as possible without introducing chaos. I thoroughly enjoyed making this bracelet and I hope that you will enjoy owning it!!
